To create the perfect ambience in your home,  light11 recommends the warm mood lighting provided by energy-efficient 12V- or 230V eco halogen lamps. These new eco halogen lamps provide energy savings of between 30 and 50% compared to traditional incandescent light bulbs and with no loss of light quality. You can use them virtually everywhere you would normally use traditional halogen or incandescent lamps. 
Energy-saving lamps are particularly useful if several hours of illumination are required every day. Energy-saving lamps and fluorescent lamps save energy and are useful for areas requiring high intensity illumination, such as home workstations, mirrors or kitchen worktops.
For warm, atmospheric exterior lighting, light11 recommends 12V eco halogen lamps. They are energy efficient, have a long service life and are fully compatible with motion detectors. If energy efficiency is even more important to you, energy-saving lamps or compact fluorescent lamps are the lamps of choice although some loss of light quality is to be expected. To save as much energy as possible without compromising on light quality, you would be best advised to  opt for cutting edge metal halide lamps. However, these lamps are not compatible with motion detectors and are somewhat more expensive than the above lamps.
If less obtrusive lighting and the opportunity to play with form and colour appeals to you, and if you would prefer not to generate too much heat, then LEDs are the choice for you.
