Environmentally friendlyPremium manufacturers throughout Europe are implementing environment programmes with the aim of reducing the environmental impact of lights and lighting systems throughout their entire lifecycle (from development, manufacture, sale and use right through to disposal). Sustainable eco design is an essential basis for this. Many manufacturers produce lights which accommodate energy-saving lamps (energy efficiency class A - C), such as efficient T16fluorescent lamps, energy-saving lamps, innovative LEDs or atmospheric12V eco halogen lamps with in-built energy-saving technology.As a result, many of these manufacturers already comply with stringent EU regulations governing the phase-out of incandescent lamps. The phase-out, due to be adopted as an EU regulation in May 2009, will commence the first of six phases on 01 September 2009. Furthermore, European products are compliant with the RoHS which restricts the use of certain hazardous substances. Many of our featured manufacturers also ensure that their products can be disposed of in an environmentally sound manner.
